The past few days, the stress level in the VH household has been totally off the charts. On Saturday while Mr and Mrs Potential Buyer were here, they said they could go one of two ways and they asked us which we preferred. Of course, we said that we would rather they buy than lease because then it is a clean cut and saves us money in the long run. So, we told them we were going to talk the realtor and get this place listed.
Mr. PB asked us why we had to list it and we explained we had to follow the relocation rules to maximize the relocation benefits with the least amount of cost to us. He said, "We can just go to a lawyer and get this all done."
Not sure which part of relocation rules he didn't understand but they definitely do not pay for lawyer's fees and we didn't want that cost coming out of our shallow pockets.
Yesterday morning, I called our realtor and told her we needed to do whatever so we could get the house sold. She said we would need to list it and then do whatever the relocation people said to do. Once it is listed then Mr & Mrs PB can make an offer and we will accept it and move forward with the paperwork.
Last night, I made JW call the Potential Buyers and tell them that we definitely were going with sale not lease and that we had listed. JW kept apologizing to them that we wanted them to buy and not lease. Mr. PB basically said he doesn't like realtors because they are just like car salesmen and would try to get them to pay more for the house than we had originally discussed. (Mind you, I had told JW we were going to list the house for $X as that is what our realtor suggested. So when Mr & Mrs. PB came the first time to look at the house, JW tells them "We are going to list it at $X. The least we will sell it for is $X - 14,000." Who does that? Who flat out tells someone what the minimum is they will accept. What happened to offers and counter-offers. AAAAAAA!!! ) We assured him that our realtor would not haggle - if he offers the $X - 14,000, it will be accepted.
JW also asked him if they could come back over one evening this week so he could show him a few more things about the house. He said he would discuss with his wife and give us a call either last night or today.
Oh my - both of us worried all night that we had scared him off. That now he wasn't going to buy. What would we do if he didn't.
This morning, the realtor e-mailed the docs so we could digi-sign them and she could get the listing done. She had actually sent them last night but she had sent them to a very old e-mail address.
At 11:30 the guy showed up to deterrmine how many boxes etc we would need to pack up this place. I had figured he could work with John until 12 looking at the shop and barn and then I'd have lunch hour off from work to spend an hour looking at things in the house with him. That didn't happen - work was so crazy that I only had 10 minutes to spend with him to tell him which things are going to the girl child and not to AK with us. I just know there is something that we left off that list so if we think of what it is, we'll have to get it added in.
At 1:30 this afternoon, we finally got an e-mail from our relocation advisor with approval to contact the realtor in AK that I had talked to in Jan. We have a list of houses from realtor.com that we forwarded to him so he can do a little research and decide which ones we should actually look at.
At 4:00, the postmaster came to pick up more of the hay so JW went out and helped him stack it on the trailer. He'll be back Thursday to get the rest of the hay.
Still no call from Mr. PB. We ate dinner and worried about whether he had changed his mind or what.
Finally at 6:30 the phone rang. Caller ID showed it was Mr. PB - i handed the phone to JW. He talked for about 3 minutes and gave me a thumbs up sign. WHEW!!!!! They chatted a bit longer and agreed they would come over Thursday evening for JW to show them a few things. JW then told me that they had spent the day at the bank and with a realtor (not sure if that was our realtor or if they went to a different one).
So tonight we go to bed knowing that we are one day closer to leaving our spot in MT and finding us a new one just a little further north.

So, you got the go ahead to ship stuff directly here? Sounds like you've been having a bit of stress lately, but are taking it all in stride..
