On Saturday the 16th, we slept in a little then had breakfast. It was a lazy morning and we just settled in to take it easy and relax.
By lunch time, JW had done about as much relaxing as he is capable of so he decided he needed to take the boat out. He and Blaine went down to the Boat Shop to pick up 2 gallons of boat oil - the price had gone up 50 cents a gallon. I think it must have gold in it because that stuff is now costing $27.50 per gallon.
While ST took a nap, JW, Blaine, Valerie and the two older girls took the boat down to the Chena Boat Ramp on University Blvd and put the boat in the water. They then headed up the river to the Nordale Bridge.
When they got back to the boat ramp, they called us and Jill, ST and I jumped in the truck and went down to take a boat ride.
It was cold and damp out but some of them rode out on the front of the boat. First we headed down the river to where it dumps into the Tanana. Then we headed back up river through town just to see how Fairbanks looked from the river.
Since it was kind of cool it was good to get back to the ramp and head for home. Where we fixed dinner and ate.
Of course, I pulled out the little pewter cups that Aunt Valerie had sent JW from Germany. The little ones always enjoy drinking from them.
Cheers ST.
