All right - so each of these teams were given a block of beautiful arctic ice that was 8' x 5' x 3' in size. They had set up 55 single block sites but only 50 of them were assigned to carvers. The other 5 were extras in the event there were problems with one of the other sites.
Above is a sculpture rendition of this block which is titled Too Little Time. The poor mouse (not just any mouse but Jerry) will be sitting on a giant pile of swiss cheese trying to eat his way through.
To me, it seems like the mouse is a little small so guess it is going to have even a bigger pile of cheese than they first thought.
A merman - just check out those drawn abs - I wonder if he will be able to actually make them look like the drawing. Around him are the body parts that need to be glued together to complete this.
A giant locust.
We left the single block area and walked around the other areas of the park a little.
The theme this year is "Future in Ice" so not sure how a lot of these sculptures fit into that theme.
MP had to look way up to check out the serpent in the middle of the maze.
Today was another absolutely gorgeous day and as much as I wanted to get back down to the park today, I had to resist. But for sure I will be there a couple of times in the next few days and tomorrow night, the single blocks will be finished and lighted up.
These are so amazing!
